More thoughts on this war mess.
On one of the many podcasts I have listened to, I heard someone breakdown why the charge "Russian propaganda" is not a fair rhetorical choice in debates about these topics.
The person claimed, everything and anything that paints America in a bad light is Russian propaganda. So for example, racist police fire-hosing black children in Birmingham in 1963, that was great for Russian propaganda, but so was all of America being internally divided over segregation in the South.
So denouncing Bull Connor is also good for Russian propaganda.Today it can be anything, they have a lot to choose from.

So it is an unfair tactic for us to denounce each other, as liberals seem to do in perfect kneejerk goosestep fashion, anything that isn't blue-gold pro-war, as Russian propaganda. It amazes me that American progressives who have spent the last five years developing a critique of nationalism have been so quick to embrace Ukraine's nationalism.
A friend asked me what I thought about anarchists taking up arms to fight alongside Ukraine's military against Putin. I think it is stupid & suicidal & gives cover for gullible American anarchists & leftists to support Biden's proxy war.
I too resisted the narrative that all this is USA/NATO's fault, coming from the American left, but I think to reject that out of hand, without looking at all the data, due the quasi-pornographic emotional sway of bombed out cities on the Carnage News Network, that to ignore the US stoking this war since 2014, is probably historically naive in the extreme.
In 2019, Zalenskyy ran on a peace platform. In fall 2019, he tried to negotiate that peace with Putin's peops, & his own people protested against him. Zalenskyy is at peace with Azov because he has no other choice. They cannot suppress their own fascists because they need them to fight the Russian fascists.

Check out Biden's speech to the Rada in 2015. Check out the transcript & video. I find it all chilling, even as I see how seductive this is for people who think we have finally found the real good war, the final bad guy. It is seductive if you buy the underlying assumptions about the inherently benign nature of neoliberal global capitalism as always right as always "democratic."
Read it, read between the lines, & read it in the context of yesterday's call for regime change in Russia. Check out where he takes a deep dive into IMF conditions.
Biden is giving all the talking points, alongside all the conditions. Ukraine is a Biden project.
Maybe American empire is never ever on the right side of history, as far as we can ever see. -Andrew/Sunfrog, on occupied Tenasi, Cherokee land
